Sean Keenan, Karate, of Ards WIKF Club receives the Under 12 Young Sports Person of the Year Award Sponsored by the Northern Bank from Alan Watterson.
Under 18,Young Sportsperson of the Year was won by athlete Ciara Mageean. This Award, which is sponsored by Trophies By Design, was presented by Sponsor Amanda Nutt of Trophies by Design to Ciara’s father.

Aimee McNeilly was presented with the Judges Award, which is sponsored by ASDC, by Committee Chairman Councillor Kieran McCarthy JP, MLA.
Fergal Eastwood of CastleBawn LTD major sponsor of the 2008 Ards Sports Awards Evening, with Kieran McCarthy chairman of the Ards Sports Development Committee (ASDC), "Magic " Johnson guest speaker at the evening, Rab Dunn Hon Secretary ASDC, Leslie Busby vice chairman ASDC and Emma Hingston Ards Sports Development Officer at the Launch of the Sport Awards in Newtownards Town Hall Kieran McCarthy MLA, Chairperson of the Ards Borough Council Sports Development Committee commented that the awards were an opportunity to acknowledge all those who had made notable achievements in Sport. In addition, it was an opportunity to recognise Club officials and coaches who had helped those sports stars reach their potential. Every Club, he said, had its unseen band of workers and he paid tribute to their commitment. Rab Dunn, Honorary Secretary of the Sports Development Committee explained that this year there would be nine categories of award. The Categories are Lifetime Achievement Award, Sports administrator of the year, Sports Coach of the year, Under 12 Team of the year, Under 18 team of the year, Team of the year, Under 12 Sports person of the year, Under 18 Sports person of the year, and Sports person of the year.
