Football in the Borough of Ards

Football is a big passion for many people who live in and around the Ards Borough, whether they play or watch the game.

Junior Football League

September 2003 seen the start of the highly successful Ards Borough Youth Development League bringing junior football back to the Ards Peninsula for the first time in over 20 years. The league started with 10 teams at U13 Level in 2003 and has continued to grow. This season they now have 6 divisions incorporating 63 teams at U11, U12, U13, U14, U15 and U17.

Games are played throughout the Ards Peninsula, Northdown and Belfast, venues include Newtownards, Ballywalter, Portavogie, Greyabbey, Millisle, Donaghadee, Groomsport, Carrowdore, Greyabbey, Bangor, Dundonald, Castlereagh and Sydenham.

New teams attracted to the league this year include Loughside Boys, Shankill Youth, Orangefield and Linfield Girls.
