2007 SPORTS AWARDS NOMINATION CRITERIA

1. The nominee must be resident in the Borough of Ards

or

2. The nominee must be taking part in sport in the Borough of Ards e.g. resident outside the Borough but representing a club, organisation, school or sporting body within the Borough

3. Nominations are confined to performance or achievements between 1st January and 31st December 2007. (Except for the Special Achievement Award and Administrator of the Year).

4. The judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

5. Nominations will only be accepted on the nomination form and must be returned to Sports Development Unit, Ards borough Council, 2 Church Street, Newtownards, BT23 4AP. No later than Friday 8th February 2008.

Specific Category Criteria:

Sports Person of the Year The Award is made to the individual, who, in the opinion of the judges has been the outstanding Sports Person in 2007.

Sports Team of the Year This Award is made to the team, who, in the opinion of the judges has been the outstanding Sports Team in 2007

Young Sports Person of the Year This Award is made to any individual, who was born on, or after, 31st December 1988 who, in the opinion of the judges has been outstanding Young Sports person in 2007.

Under 12’s Junior Team of the Year This award is made to the Under 12s Team which, in the opinion of the judges, has been the outstanding junior sports team in 2007, at primary school, sports club or other organisation

Under 18’s Junior Team of the Year This award is made to the Under 18s Team which, in the opinion of the judges, has been the outstanding junior sports team in 2007, at school, sports club or other organisation. S

ports Administrator of the Year This Award is made at the discretion of the judges for their outstanding contribution to their sport Sports Coach of the Year This Award is made in recognition of their coaching contributions to their club / sport throughout 2007

Special Achievement Award This Award is for a team/ individual which deserves special recognition for their outstanding achievement.
