Awards for Sport
Is a new small grants programme managed by Sport Northern Ireland.
 

Awards for Sport Aims to

  • Increase participation in sport and physical recreation especially among under represented groups: and
  • Increase the number of athletes with improved sporting performances
Open to
  • Governing Bodies
  • Sports Clubs
  • Community and Voluntary organisations

As a result of budget implications the current round of Awards for Sport is limited to equipment applications only. In future rounds it is hoped that funding will be available for revenue programmes.


Grants range 1,000 - 10,000 Note: Only one award can be held at any one time

Deadline applications submitted by 4pm Wednesday 6th January 2010 and must be spent by Wednesday 31st March 2010.

Sports Funding Evening

The Ards Sports Development Committee recently held a Sports funding evening on Monday 3rd December at Ards Town Hall from 7.00-10.00pm. Funders such as the Northern Bank, the Big Lottery and Awards for All all made presentations to some 35 individuals representing clubs throughout the Borough. Emma Hingston also presented information about potential funding from the Community Foundation, Sport Relief, Ards Borough Council and Ards Sports Development amongst others. This was a tremendous opportunity for local Clubs to get information and assistance at first hand from the sources of major funds.

Many Sports Clubs find it difficult to source funds for their Club. They often seem to be unaware of available grants and how to go about getting them. Many Clubs are unsure as to how to apply for this money and many seem to find form filling daunting. Help is at hand from the Ards Sports Development Committee where Ards Borough Council Sports Development Officer Emma Hingston will be pleased to help affiliated Clubs in this respect.

Thanks to those who attended the Ards Sports Development Committee Sports Funding Night on Monday 3rd December 2007 at the Townhall, We had around 35 people \ clubs in attendance and have received some good feedback already.
